Remember that more scope to tinker around with settings like the BIOS means plenty more opportunities to screw things up. Perhaps there should be a society to protect computers from their owners. »»»
If the touch-pad is rubbish, the DVD is noisy (or maybe broken?) and it's slow - take it back!

The laptops we have here load Win 7 Ultimate in around 20-25 seconds.

Bluetooth dongles can be added to USB ports. Why do you need this...?

You don't wanna mess with any physical hardware replacements (except memory?) unless the warranty has gone...just in case. »»»
Hi Bart,

Don't have the Lifetab anymore - I gave it back - must agree very good build but was having problems with it shutting down for no reason. I would have kept it, if not for some other little niggly problems.

Anyway, I used to send, example only: for example 9999 as a message and write "balance" to my ISP and get back the balance etc. of my sim card with the ISP. Sorry if I misunderstood but is this the same thing you're talking about. I found I could send and receive.

Don't know about making a »»»
I recently picked up the said Laptop from Sainsbiurys a few weeks back while on special offer.

Updated all drivers and software to latest from Medion website.

Many reviews mention a problem with the touchpad becoming non responsive. I've come across it a few times, but not to the point of sheer distraction. Does anyone know why it sticks?

Also, just wondering though that as it's listed as an 2nd Gen i5, 4gb Win7 model, it's very slow in operation and boot up. Is this normal?

The DVD RW drive I find is very noisey in operation, Is it ok »»»
I had the same problem and replaced the m/b with an Asus P5Q-EM, it activated strait away.I think that Microsoft are fairly relaxed about this sort of upgrade as mother boards do die from time to time,by the way it was the best thing I could have done it gave me much more scope to tinker with different »»»
Not needed to use crossove cables for a long time now, everything should just auto detect. Even my 11 year xbox does.

Anyway, easiest way is to use static IPs, these are the settings I use to connect my server to my desktop directly.

Doesn't really matter which way round you do it, I use the 172 IP range so my internet still works via wireless on 192 IP range, two networks on the same range can cause »»»
You will need a crossed ethernet cable and will have to ceate an "Ad Hoc" network as if you were connecting 2 PCs together for a local network.

Go to the control panel in your PC and then click on networks and the create a network.

That should give you the option of selecting Ad Hoc then follow the steps in the wizard for creating that.

Not sure what you will see for the reciever but hopefuly it will become obvious as you go through the »»»
Well, after 3 nights away it took 5 starts and much swearing to get it up and running!!!

Despair is setting in but I have discovered it's still within the guarantee so if my next efforts to sort this don't work then it's going back to daddy for a good talking to!

I decided to do the check disc thing and this took about 4 hours yesterday. This morning it started but before getting to the final screen the screen broke up into loads of horizontal multicoloured lines. At this point I decided to get inside it's shell and »»»
